Alfonsus - Fun facts about the Vanilla plant

For our "Amazing Plants Inquiry" we each chose a plant that was important to our families from the Pacific. Alfonsus spoke with his parents and one plant they came up with was the Heilala or the Vanilla plant. Here is some information he and his family researched together!

Maraia - tūpou - Māori Pronouns

Ngā kare ā-roto me ngā āhau - Feelings and states No. 2

Today for Māori we are learning about Tūpou Māori - Māori pronouns. This was a bit hard because I do not know a lot about Māori or how to speak it. A new word I learnt was "Takeo". It means I am bored.
Can you use these pronouns to speak Te Reo Māori.

Plants of the Pacific Inquiry - The Coconut by Achilles

This term our class has been looking at plants. Specifically native plants to New Zealand. We have learnt lots about our New Zealand Native plants and now we have moved on to learning about plants in the Pacific. As a learning we all looked at the coconut because it holds huge importance to many of our Pacific Islands. We split into groups and all researched a different part of the tree. Here is Achilles' Google Drawing about the meat/flesh of the coconut.

Sacred Heart of Jesus Mass by Xavier

Today Saint Pius X Catholic School went to mass to celebrate the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The meaning of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is about God's unlimited  and passionate love for mankind.  Some quotes Father Felise gave us it to not be naughty and to always pray to the Lord!

Father Felise also said Jesus asks us to "not be afraid, I will return from my father and bring you to Heaven". "You are members of my heart and I am ready to bless you" Father Felise.

Alfonsus' Swimming recount

During the last 2 weeks of school, me and the other class went swimming at Swim Magic. Swim magic is on Morrin Rd. We went there to learn how to swim in case when we accidentally fall out of a boat or we get chased by sharks and we remember our swimming and do it.
During the lesson we had our instructors so we can know what we are gonna be confused about and get kicked out of the pool. We were learning to do the stroke and all of the swimming skills that you need to survive swimming. The easy things were the backwards stroke. The hard things were we had to dive down and hold our breath and pass every one I came 1st twice. The skills I enjoyed were backstroking. At the end, I felt like I was ready to go out in the sea and practice the skills that I learned, because when I used to go swimming I would always drown. My biggest challenge was to hold my breath underground, which is so hard. Compared to the start it was pretty easy because I already knew how to do tricks. I will use these skills in front of my dad so I don't think that he is better than me at swimming.
At the beginning I felt like I was excited to hop in the water because I haven’t been in a long long time. Because before I always used to go swimming in the water. The things that I could already do in the water were freestyle swimming, backwards stroke swimming and diving. I hoped to do more swimming so I can get better and better.

Moala Cybersmart Challenge

Today's Cybersmart Challenge was about introducing your self and adding a photo so they know how you look like. I first added a nice colour for the background, I chose red because it is my favourite colour. Then I added a picture of myself and used the crop button and clicked on shapes then I chose circle because that is the shape and tried to fit my picture into the circle frame. Then I introduced myself. If you would like to know more about me check out my blog!
