As you know our inquiry topic has been "Amazing Plants!" We started with New Zealand Native plants and moved to plants of the Pacific. As a learning hub we all looked at the coconut tree together as it has importance to all of our Pacific nations. Last time we looked at Achilles' group and the coconut meat/flesh and Maraia's group about the coconut shell. This time, Alfonsus, Kalisi, Mele, Zenith, Jonah, and Ofa have shared their information about the coconut leaves!

Cybersmart Challenge #5 Chromebook Webcam

For our Cybersmart challenge this week we are learning how to use our webcam to take photos and record video. First we watched a short interactive tutorial and then it was our turn.

We used our chromebook's webcam to take a photo of something we created. Some of us used our artwork we had already made others drew pictures just for this task. We then had to blog our activity. Here are some of our activities by Jonah and Moala.

If you'd like to give the Cybersmart challenge a go yourself you can find it here!

Grammar Practice - Common Nouns By Lisiate and Jonah

In class as a refresher to the new school year, we have been remembering all our basic grammar. In particular, sentence structure and parts of speech, including nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions and conjunctions. Last time we looked at common nouns. This time we are look ing at proper nouns. A proper noun is the name of an actual person, days, months, books, movies or places. Here are our activities from Lisiate and Jonah

Today for writing we have been practicing our grammar skills. Today we focused on common nouns. A common noun is a word that names a person, a place, a thing or an animal. A noun can tell who or what.

Something I found easy was the colouring the five common nouns.

Something I found difficult was the public places activity

Here is my activity that I did today.

Today for writing we have been practising our grammar skills. Today we focused on common nouns. A common noun is a word that names a person, a place, a thing or an animal. A noun can tell who or what. Something I found easy in activity 1 was naming the stuff in my bag and for Activity 2 was the sport one. Something that I found difficult in activity 1 was The Creature Nouns, The one I found most difficult in Activity 2 was the Spring Flower Puzzle. My favourite activity was probably Activity 2.

Science LIVING WORLD UNIT 1: PREHISTORIC LIFE

This term we have been looking at the living world - mostly the prehistoric life. Our WALT is to explain how we know that some living things from the past are now extinct.

Did you know that the first living creatures appeared in the oceans about one billion years ago. For this lesson we learnt about trilobites.

Trilobite ("three lobed") are extinct arthropods which were the first animals known to have eyes. They were the most common animal in the world during the early Palaeozoic era. They lived worldwide, but only in salt water environments.

Here are some of our activities about trilobites.
