Kia ora e te whānau! Kei te tino harikoa mātou mō Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori! To start of our Māori language week we recorded we decided to do our karakia that we have been learning in class over the term. It is a well known and very easy karakia called Tūtawa mai. Check out some of our class doing this karakia with actions. Can you learn this Karakia and put it on your blog as well?

                                                                      Here is the lyrics
Tūtawa mai i runga
Tūtawa mai i raro

Māori myths and legends - Kahukura, the legend of the rainbow and Atua of war

In our space we have named our reading groups after Māori Atua. We have chosen Atua who are lesser known but still have interesting stories. One of the Atua we have chosen is Kahukura God of Rainbows and War.

We have done some research and recreated our own interpretation. Have a read of some of our retold myths and legends by Xavier, Taniela and Sione.

Cycbersmart Challenge #8 - Google Presentation Animations

Cycbersmart Challenge #8 is all about Google Presentation Animations. We learnt how to create animations for our blogs using Google Slides and the 'duplicate' function on our slides. Our wero or challenge was to create a sailing boat using the auto shapes and line tools. We also had to add a background slide to make it look more realistic. From there we learnt how to use the 'duplicate' tool to copy our background and move our sailing boat. The idea was to try and replica real movement of a ship through water. Here are some of our activities by  Sione, Briana and Vili.

Wonderopolis by Sione

Today I did an activity about Echidna. They are these animals that looks like a hedgehog mixed with a mole. This activity was pretty easy. Something I found difficult was nothing because this whole activity was easy. Something I found easy was answering the questions because we could of just went and looked back for the information. Here Is My Work Below!
Have you read a Wonderopolis article before?

International Women's Day - Gender Ground Rules Activity 4 by Sione and Maraia

Today I did gender ground rules for international women's day. It took me pretty long because I had to restart because I messed up. The activity I did was you had to create a little comic strip of some one overcoming gender stereotypes. Something that was tricky in this activity was doing it. Something that was easy was blogging it. Here Is My Little Comic Strip! By Sione
Today on the 29th of March I did my 4th International Women's Day Activity I choose a Writing Task Card I thought it wasn't going to take long but it took like 2 hours because I kept on getting distracted. For the activity I had to brainstorm types of gender stereotypes that I have noticed, and choose one that is important to me. Then I had to create my own comic that has a scenario where a someone overcomes a gender stereotype. Question : What is the most weirdest gender stereotype you have ever heard. Here is my Story Board ( Click on my activity to go to Story Board That ) By Maraia

Grammar Practice What are Common Nouns?

In class as a refresher to the new school year, we have been remembering all our basic grammar. In particular, sentence structure and parts of speech, including nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions and conjunctions. We have started with our common nouns first. A common noun is a word that names a person, a place, a thing or an animal. A noun can tell who or what. Here are some of our activities by Sione and Briana.
