ANZAC Day under lock down

On Saturday the 25th April we celebrated ANZAC day. But in Level 4 lock down because of Covid-19. Meaning we were able to celebrate, but only with our bubbles and from either a distance or through an online presence. Te Wairua Pakiki 5 acknowledge a huge part of our ANZAC Day celebrations in Religious Education. We did this because Anzac can be a good time to focus on peace.

First we read and discussed some scripture readings that had a theme of Peace:
Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.
Matthew 11:28-30 Come to me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

Next we each made a copy of a poppy and opened it in a Google Drawing so we could edit and add text to it. We had to explain in our own words:
  1. What is peace?
  2. Where do we find it?
  3. How do we share it?

We then shared these poppys back with out teacher who created a wreath online of our poppys. How did you celebrate ANZAC Day?

Ready, Steady, Cook! With Beata and Jabez!

We've been a busy bunch over this lock down period, working, eating, washing our hands and more eating! Food is a way we can learn more about people and their cultures. Beata and Jabez have each shared a delicious recipe for you all to try at home. Why don't you give it a go at home? You can bake Jabez' chewy, ANZAC biscuits for morning tea, cook Beata's silky Pasta for dinner and back to Jabez for his scrumptious Chocolate Brownies for pudding! Keep your eyes peeled for more delicious recipes from TWP 5!

 HOMEMADE  BAKING

During lock down my mum bakes a lot of different things for us.  Mum never
liked to bake, she rather cooks then to bake but because of lock down she tried
baking and I helped her a lot too. Each time mum baked something she got
really excited and put it up on her facebook page for people to see she can
bake.   I helped her roll the dough for making unleavened bread, dinner roll,
coconut bread, cupcakes, biscuits but my favourite is her chocolate brownies.

Last weekend  she helped Vili, Lau and I bake some Anzac biscuits. I felt
excited to bake with mum, Vili, and Lau. last night she baked some lemon
coconut cupcakes and chocolate brownies. I like to mix the ingredients in a
bowl and I also like rolling the dough. My favorite thing about baking is when
we get to eat them.

I love homemade baking and I’m looking forward to baking more

Amihuti - Harry's War Activity to go to war or become a conscientious objector?

Today we had to write how to encourage people
to go to war or for people to be a conscientious objector.

WALT-How to encourage people to go to war or become an
conscientious objector. List two positives for each one then retell it on your blog.

I think I would become a soldier. I would become a soldier because
I would fight with pride and I would like to realise what war for people
in the olden days felt like. I would like explore the places and be proud of
my decision of becoming a soldier. I would also like to be a soldier because I will
like to train as a soldier, I would like to do the hard work they do in the rain for me to gain skill.
One more thing is someone that if anyone asks me about war I would have an answer.Australian soldier fighting with US Green Berets against IS in ...

Angeline Math Practice

My Math certificate!

After doing my maths work I decided that I can do a
little bit of my basic fact’s. so I went on Prototec where
you can practice your maths if you don’t really know how
to learn your maths and stuff. like addition and subtraction,
if you keep on doing practice and more practice, you will
get better and better at it, okey-dokey :)

Today l learnt that Math can be an important thing in
your life so we can find out the thing that is new to you and
never, ever tried it out before. But that's ok because as
I said if you do practice and more practice you will be a
pro like me or maybe you can be the pro at math!

Arvay's retell of The Walk to Emmaus

Did you know Easter isn't all about Yummy chocolate eggs and Bunnies? Well, there is actually more to it. I have always wondered if Jesus and the Easter bunny are friends or not? Maybe you can answer that down below in the comments. My sister and I wanted to do more R.E so we looked at the other activity! Here is my comic strip of the 'Easter Surprise' -

Emmaus and Cleopas walked to their house to  They soon realised that it was Jesus and he was They went to go tell the disciples that they eat their dinner. They saw a man walking by disappearing. They were so shocked that they had seen the Lord Jesus Christ.
while they were chatting and he said what's had been walking and talking with Jesus the so exciting? They asked if he was the only one whole entire time. They could believe their eyes!!
didn't know what had happened. Then they
explained

Aisake's Resurrection of Jesus

This morning in RE we discussed the resurrection of

Jesus. We first read as a class A reading from the gospel of St. Matthew 28:1-10 and then discussed the scripture reading the events that stood out to us. We followed up that scripture with a video and then completed an activity.

Wednesday 15th April

He had risen. To recall the events of the Easter

Easter was when God made Jesus come alive and if

we have to follow Jesus and God can bring him up Heaven to see God. if he dies he is doing it for us and he will make is love his so much and never forget Jesus in his life.
