Converting decimals into fractions

 Today for maths Me and My class were converting  decimals into fractions.My first one that I really loved to figure out was 5/100.The first thing that I looked at was the 5 and I already knew that is was 5.Now I was stuck with the 10 and this was the tricky part but thing I remembered was what ever you do to the top you do to thew bottom.So now I decided to count to ten but by 2s and I got 20 so I had my answer 5/100 can be simplified to the lowest of 1/20.This activity was really fun and I loved it.

Converting decimals into fraction

0.05 = 5/100 =1/20

0.14 = 14/100 = 7/200

0.125 = 125/1000 =15/1000

0.64 = 64/100 = 8/100

0.27 = 27/100 =9/11

0.216 = 216/1000 =216/1000

0.89 = 89/100 = 89/100

0.625 = 625/1000 = 5/8

0.428 = 428/1000 = 428/1000

0.08 =  8/100 = 2/200

0.546 = 546/1000 =273/500

0.35 = 35/100 =7/20

0.864 = 864/1000 =108/125

All saints day

 On the 1st of November It was all saints day.All saints day is a catholic and christian celebration in honour of all saints in heaven.For my activity I had to write ten things a saint would be doing during lockdown and 3-4 things about what a saint wouldn't be doing.It was Interesting for me and I what I came up with.I thought this activity was awesome.

All Saints Day

10 things a saint would be doing during lockdown

  1. Giving baskets of food to homeless people.

  2. Doing a google meet and making sure that people around are doing good.

  3. Getting the Vaccine.

  4. Making a poster that will make people feel safe and happy.

  5. Making letters.

  6. Wearing a mask.

  7. Not reusing a mask.

  8. Being careful about other people and respecting their space.

  9. Going for walks and saying hello to other people but keeping distance.

  10. Respect other people's bubbles.

3 things a saint wouldn’t do during lockdown

1.Not having big parties.

2.not listening to the Government.

3.not staying in your bubble.

Bouncy egg experiment

Today (2/11/21) I myself created an experiment called a bouncy egg. The first thing I did to complete this activity was to get an old cup then put an egg in it, next put vinegar in it and fill it up past the egg. The next on the list you can put dye in it this is optional but I chose to use it and I chose the colour yellow. Now that I've done that all you have to do is stir but stir carefully. Now that that's all done you have to leave it for 2 days and come back on the third day and check. If it hasn't worked you might have to leave it for 3 days. for me I think it will take more than one night. I think if it works inside where the yolk goes I think it will be gooey and sticky.

Facts about Tokelau and Niue

 Today(2/11/2021) I did some research about Tokelau and Niue.It was really fun and I love finding out about These two countries.The most goddess fact that I found about Niue was that when James cook called Niue "Savage Island" because people refused about his arrival and it made me laugh a bit.Niue and Tokelau to me they are very beautiful countries and I love their oceans its so nice and beautiful.For this activity I put it into slides so four slides for Tokelau and four slides Niue.Another Interesting fact was that Niue has more people living there then Tokelau with the rank of Niue with 1,641 and Tokelau with 1,379.This was so much fun and I would definitely do it again but with two different new countries.

TWP Play '' Like share subscribe '' By Kalila

On the 29th of October Me, Cristobella, Xavier, Preston, Callen and Andrew created a play called 'Like, Share and Subscribe' with the help of Mrs Grayham. The characters that we played were: Me as the mum, Xavier as the dad, Bella as Emma (daughter), Callen as Jake (son), Preston as the narrator and Andrew as the Introducer. This play is about parents going on their devices every day and Emma and Jake don't like it. So they make new rules for their parents to follow.

I really enjoyed this play because it is true being online a lot is not good for you and made me learn that to also spend time with your family. When I first was practising I felt like I was good enough but when I kept practising I felt excited and confident. From this play, the message that I caught was to respect others people privacy and always spend time with your family.

Paralympic Disability categories

For literacy we were having discussions and learning about the many different categories there are for sports and events in the Paralympics. It is a very confusing system but one that the paralympic committee think is fair. In groupd we each researched the six main categories and then found past and present NZ athletes with theses disabilities to research. We all found this really interesting and enjoyed getting to understand our Paralympians and people in our country better.

Maraia - Planting Plants

 Planting Plants

In the school holidays before we visited our Aunty and uncle down in Opotiki, Whakatane. We also went down there to see our baby cousin Jiosese ( How to say it - josese). the first few week we went fishing alot and I always said to my "Don't go into the water", but somehow I ended up going back to the house wet. After the first week all my cousins left, only me and my Grandmother stayed another week. after the day they left my aunty went to do some gardening and she gave me some little seedlings like the ones from countdown to plant. Then the next day we went fishing early in the morning around 8 or 9 I think with my uncle. It was a bit chilly out so my aunty stayed with Jiosese until 10 then they came out to the beach. They live in a holiday home and it is also by the beach so there is a gate and when you open it you just have to follow the path and you are a the beach it is less then a minute walk. Then when they came down to the beach my grandmother came back from her walk on the beach. Whenever we go fishing my uncle brings 2 fishing rod and when my Grandmother got back, one of the fishing poles got tugged so  she went to reel it in, and when she was reeling in the fishing line the other line got tugged so the I ran to it and reeled it in and we both caught a fish.

Check out the photo of our fish and plants!

Sacred Heart of Jesus Mass by Xavier

 Today Saint Pius X Catholic School went to mass to celebrate the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The meaning of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is about God's unlimited  and passionate love for mankind.  Some quotes Father Felise gave us it to not be naughty and to always pray to the Lord!

Father Felise also said Jesus asks us to "not be afraid, I will return from my father and bring you to Heaven". "You are members of my heart and I am ready to bless you" Father Felise.

Alfonsus' Swimming recount

During the last 2 weeks of school, me and the other class went swimming at Swim Magic. Swim magic is on Morrin Rd. We went there to learn how to swim in case when we accidentally fall out of a boat or we get chased by sharks and we remember our swimming and do it.
During the lesson we had our instructors so we can know what we are gonna be confused about and get kicked out of the pool. We were learning to do the stroke and all of the swimming skills that you need to survive swimming. The easy things were the backwards stroke. The hard things were we had to dive down and hold our breath and pass every one I came 1st twice. The skills I enjoyed were backstroking. At the end, I felt like I was ready to go out in the sea and practice the skills that I learned, because when I used to go swimming I would always drown. My biggest challenge was to hold my breath underground, which is so hard. Compared to the start it was pretty easy because I already knew how to do tricks. I will use these skills in front of my dad so I don't think that he is better than me at swimming.
 At the beginning I felt like I was excited to hop in the water because I haven’t been in a long long time. Because before I always used to go swimming in the water. The things that I could already do in the water were freestyle swimming, backwards stroke swimming and diving. I hoped to do more swimming so I can get better and better.
